I also tried extensively for the first time a retouching technique known as frequency separation, which allows to separate the skin texture (high frequency) from the color information and lighting on a macro scale (low frequency). By doing so, you can retouch the skin imperfections in a way that doesn’t effect the tonality of the areas you work on, and vice-versa.
